Amritsar Train Accident!

When? How?

  • When the RAVANA was dying there hundreds of people died under the train. This incident took place on 19 October at night in Amritsar near Joda Phatak.
  •  It was a normal Friday evening and around 300 people came to watch the 'Ravan Dahan' at a ground adjacent to railway tracks.
  • As usual, the statue of Ravan was lit and there were a number of different multicoloured, varicoloured and alluring firecrackers were blown.
  • Due to a lot of heat people started moving far away from ground leading to the railway tracks.
  • In spur of a second the train came and people came below it, causing major destruction.

Situation there (victims review)

  • Jagnandan,a labour, who saw the incident in front of his eyes says,"As Ravana was burnt people started running due to scarcity of space, no horn was heard. It was a matter of second and limbs were flying all over among which I was hit by one which made me fall on ground causing injuries."
  • Khanna Saxena explains about the trains arrival saying,"While one train crossed earlier, we heard the horn. But as it crossed, the second speeding train approached and in no time people were dead!

Who was the Driver?

  • Arvind Kumar was the driver of the train.
  • But there is another story behind this driver.
  • He says that he was given green signal according by their team and he had no clue that hundreds of people might be standing there.
  •  While Passing He still pressed horn but in fraction off seconds people went under the train.
  • Actually it wasn't his fault.
So this was a small summary of how the incident took place. So before arranging such event check all the nessesary things ! We only have one life!
